Not only are heat pumps highly efficient and environmentally friendly, but they also qualify for generous rebates and incentives from various programs in Sonoma and Marin counties.
At Ongaro & Sons, we want to help you make the most of these rebates and incentives. Here’s some information on the available rebates for switching to heat pumps for HVAC systems, electrical panel upgrades, and water heaters in Sonoma and Marin counties, as well as the rebates offered by BayREN.

HVAC Systems:
- Sonoma County (Homeowner Applies): The Sonoma Clean Power offers rebates up to $1,000 for installing a high efficient 18+ seer heat pump HVAC system. Up to $10,000 for income qualifying homeowners. - BayREN (Contractor Applies): BayREN offers rebates up to $1,500 for installing a heat pump HVAC system. Additional incentives of up to $1,000+ are available for duct sealing, attic insulation, and air sealing. MUST BE A PG&E GAS AND ELECTRIC CUSTOMER! - TECH REBATE:The $22,000,000 grant is now live. The funds lasted 4 months last year and will be available as a “first come first serve” basis. The program is now Statewide, and the incentive amount will be $1,000 per system with a max of 2 systems per household. The equipment qualification for this program is of course Heat Pump HVAC and the efficiency minimum will align with title 24 requirements.
Electrical Panel Upgrades:

Water Heaters:

- BayREN (Contractor Applies): BayREN offers rebates up to $1,150 for installing a heat pump water heater. Additional incentives of up to $400 are available for tankless water heaters. Sonoma Clean Power Financing option: Through our partnership with local power provider, Sonoma Clean Power, we are proud to offer no-interest financing on up to $10,000 worth of purchases (including installation costs) of select energy-efficient products. Sonoma Clean Power customers get exclusive access to rebates on equipment such as water heaters and HVAC systems, and can pay off the costs over time on their utility bill. Inflation Reduction Act IRA: The federal Inflation Reduction Act includes two residential energy rebate programs and funding for contractor training grants related to these programs. More than $582 million is anticipated to be allocated to California for the whole-house Homeowner Managing Energy Savings (HOMES) rebate program and point-of-sale High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate (HEEHRA) program. The guidelines have yet to be set and won’t be available until later this year. Current information we have is they will be income based ranging from 80%-150% of median income of the county you live in. Although, currently there are federal tax credits currently available of up to $2,000.
