In many cases, fans with fewer blades, like three, can actually move air more efficiently than those with five or more, due to reduced drag and resistance. The blade span is another key factor: the longer the blades, the greater the airflow they can produce. • Flush Mounts: If the room has a low ceiling, this is a simple and effective way to mount it. In this setup, the fan is flush with your ceiling.
• Down Rod Mounts: In rooms with higher ceilings, down rod mounts may be necessary. A rod hangs from your ceiling, feeding the wiring to the fan. It also suspends the fan at the proper eight-foot length from the floor.

How to Use Ceiling Fans During Summer and Winter

On a warm day, you can rotate the fan counterclockwise to circulate cool air throughout your home. On a cool winter’s day, reverse it clockwise and run it at a low speed. This helps recirculate the heat that rises to the ceiling, keeping everyone inside warm and toasty.
