That inversion has a practical consequence people miss. A house here is heating-dominated for most of the year, but the days when cooling would actually be welcome fall outside the season anyone plans for. Equipment specified against a conventional summer profile is specified against the wrong months.
What suits the pattern is a heat pump, and not as a compromise: it carries the long cool and foggy stretch efficiently, and it provides the modest cooling that the autumn clear spell justifies, on one machine and one circuit.
